Dogs at rifugi: call before you count on it

Terrace, dining room and overnight access are three different decisions. Confirm the one your route actually depends on.

2 min guide
The one reliable rule

Call before the route depends on it

A dog-friendly listing is not a complete answer. Ask the hut manager about the exact space, date and dog you are bringing.

Ask three separate questions

Which space do you need?

A yes for the terrace does not include indoors or overnight.

Lunch stop

Terrace

Often the simplest option, never a guarantee.

Ask: May my dog use the terrace? Is there shade? Is drinking water available?
Bad-weather fallback

Indoor dining

Ask before entering; busy service may change what the hut can manage.

Ask: Which room and time? Leash only, or is a muzzle requested?
Sleep

Overnight

CAI rules require dormitory access with animals to be checked with the manager when booking.

Confirm in writing: exact sleeping space, fee, bedding and house rules.
Make the answer usable

Three steps, then keep a fallback

01

Send one precise request

Give the date, number and size of dogs, arrival time and whether you need terrace, indoor or overnight access.

02

Save and reconfirm

Keep the reply. Reconfirm near the trip if it was booked months ahead or the exact arrangement matters.

03

Arrive self-sufficient

Bring water, bowl, leash, waste bags and agreed bedding. Keep the route alternative usable, and check separate lift and muzzle rules.
