The gentle lap of the only natural lake in the Bauges massif, ringed by meadows below the village of La Thuile at 870 m. The shoreline path is level and accessible, wheelchairs, joelettes and strollers included, with the Bauges summits mirrored in the water and benches along the way. A short, calm outing that works in every season.
Start here: parking du lac de la Thuile, by the village and mairie
The leash is compulsory around the lake, letting dogs run free is explicitly forbidden, and picking up after them is required. Swimming is neither supervised nor arranged, tolerated at your own risk and strictly banned when the lake freezes, so a paddling dog is at your judgement outside winter. A fountain sits at the start, and the village is right there for anything else. Fishing lines share the banks in season, so mind curious noses.
